Thu Sep 12 01:00:58 UTC 2024: ## Sabrina Carpenter Shines at the VMAs with Cheeky Medley and Seven Nominations

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter made her MTV VMA debut on Tuesday, electrifying the crowd with a medley of her chart-topping hits “Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and “Espresso.” Introduced by Cyndi Lauper, who praised Carpenter’s songwriting prowess, the singer kicked off her performance atop a glittery swing suspended over the audience, seamlessly transitioning into “Taste” on the catwalk. Carpenter even recreated the iconic makeout scene from the song’s music video, featuring a twist: she replaced the original actors with an alien and an astronaut.

Carpenter’s performance came on the heels of her seven nominations at the awards show, including coveted categories like Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Espresso.” The singer is also nominated for Best Pop, Best Direction for “Please, Please, Please,” and Best Editing for “Espresso.”

Hot off her VMA success, Carpenter will embark on her “Short n’ Sweet” tour, starting September 23rd in Columbus, Ohio. The tour will hit 33 arenas across the U.S., including Madison Square Garden and Crypto.com Arena before heading to the U.K. in 2025.

In a recent interview, Carpenter described her “Short n’ Sweet” album as the “hot older sister” to her fifth studio album “Emails I Can’t Send,” emphasizing its evolution as a “big girl” album reflecting her creative growth and maturity.

Carpenter recently made history on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first solo act to have two simultaneous top 100 hits with “Please, Please, Please” and “Espresso” debuting at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
