**MINNEAPOLIS, MN** – A 27-year-old runner, Blake Groulx, tragically died during the City of Lakes Half Marathon on Sunday. Groulx collapsed during the eleventh mile of the race and was pronounced dead at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

According to witnesses, Groulx stumbled and hit his head on a curb before collapsing. Fellow runners, including an emergency room doctor, administered CPR but were unable to revive him.

The cause of death has not been officially released, but Groulx’s obituary stated that he died of cardiac issues.

Groulx was described as an active individual who enjoyed hiking, tennis, running, and pickleball. He had recently moved to Minneapolis for a new job at General Mills.

Race organizers expressed their condolences to Groulx’s family and thanked the participants who assisted at the scene. They also encouraged the running community to come together in mourning.

This tragic incident follows a similar event just a week earlier where a TikToker, Bobby Graves, died after completing Disneyland’s Halloween Half Marathon. Graves, who had no known medical conditions, experienced cardiac arrest after crossing the finish line.

Groulx’s family is requesting donations be made to The Bridge for Youth or the American Heart Association in his honor. They are also encouraging others to get heart health screenings.
