Thu Sep 12 13:20:57 UTC 2024: ## Warrington Residents Invited to Shape Gambling Policy

**Warrington, UK -** Warrington Borough Council is seeking input from residents and businesses on its approach to gambling in the town. The council is currently drafting a new gambling policy, as required by the Gambling Act 2005, and is inviting the public to participate in a consultation process.

The policy aims to address concerns around gambling and its potential impact on the community. It outlines the council’s approach to licensing businesses that offer gambling activities, including amusement arcades, betting shops, bingo halls, casinos, and pubs with gambling machines.

The policy is guided by the Gambling Act 2005 objectives, which aim to prevent gambling from being associated with crime, ensure fairness and transparency in gambling practices, and protect children and vulnerable individuals from harm.

Cllr John Kerr-Brown, cabinet member for housing services and licensing, emphasized the importance of community involvement in shaping the policy. He stated that the council is committed to ensuring that gambling in Warrington is conducted responsibly and safely.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure that our policy reflects the needs and concerns of our town,” said Cllr Kerr-Brown. “Your feedback will help us ensure we continue to work effectively with the Gambling Commission and the trade to promote responsible gambling, protect vulnerable individuals, and maintain high standards within the licensed premises sector.”

Residents and businesses are encouraged to share their opinions and concerns by completing a questionnaire at smartsurvey.co.uk/s/wbcgamblingpolicy2024/. The deadline to submit feedback is Friday, October 11.

The draft policy and further information can be accessed on the council’s website at warrington.gov.uk/draft-gambling-policy.
