Pune: NCP (SP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule expressed surprise at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud’s residence on the occasion of Ganesh festival. While Sule stated that she has “full faith” in the Indian judiciary, she noted the unprecedented nature of the visit.
“Such an incident (PM visiting CJI’s house) was unheard of,” Sule said, adding, “I was also surprised, but I have full faith in courts and the respected CJI might have given it a thought before (inviting the PM).”
Sule also addressed the recent allocation of office space to the NCP (SP) in the new Parliament building, stating that the party received it on merit. She emphasized her party’s commitment to the Constitution and parliamentary procedures.
Commenting on the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, Sule defended the allocation of office space to the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, stating that the government identified them as “Shiv Sena – Shinde” and that truth ultimately prevails.
She also accused an “invisible force” of using “ICE” (Income Tax Department, Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate) to seize control of parties from Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray.
Sule concluded by highlighting the alignment between the RSS’s recent progressive ideology and the progressive thought of Maharashtra, drawing a connection between the RSS’s current stance and the ideology of slain rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar.
