Thu Sep 12 08:22:00 UTC 2024: ## Guardiola Denies Interest in England Job Despite “Dream” Status

**Manchester, England** – While the FA continues its search for a permanent replacement for Gareth Southgate, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed any possibility of taking over the England national team.

Despite being considered the “dream” candidate after his transformative influence on English football at Manchester City, Guardiola has reiterated his commitment to the Citizens.

The Spaniard has led City to a plethora of trophies, including the Champions League, Club World Cup, and six Premier League titles, since arriving in 2016. His emphasis on attacking football and ball-playing goalkeepers has also been credited with advancing the English game.

Guardiola’s contract with City expires next summer, and while he hasn’t signed an extension yet, he’s expressed his contentment at the Etihad. When asked about the England job during City’s pre-season tour in the US, Guardiola stated, “I am here, I am really pleased. I cannot say anything. I don’t know where it has come from. I am really satisfied here.”

Despite Guardiola’s denial, speculation surrounding his potential appointment persists. The FA is reportedly considering a range of candidates, including interim manager Lee Carsley, who has led England to two recent victories, and former Chelsea bosses Graham Potter and Frank Lampard. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is also in the running.

The FA’s pursuit of a new manager comes after Southgate’s departure in July following England’s Euro 2024 final loss to Spain. Southgate, who guided England to two European Championship finals, a World Cup semi-final, and a quarter-final, never secured a trophy during his eight-year tenure.
