Arizona Cardinals’ first-round draft pick Marvin Harrison Jr. had a disappointing NFL debut in the team’s 34-28 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Harrison, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, was targeted three times but only managed one reception for four yards.
“Obviously it wasn’t great,” Harrison admitted to reporters. “Definitely wasn’t what I expected, what I wanted to happen, what the team wanted to happen. Obviously, you wanted to come out with a victory and we didn’t do that.”
The rookie receiver, known for his speed and explosiveness in college, looked slow and uncertain in his debut, leaving fans questioning his performance. “I got to get open and catch the ball,” Harrison acknowledged. “That’s my job as a receiver. That’s what I got to do a better job.”
The entire Cardinals’ offense struggled, with quarterback Kyler Murray completing only 21 of 31 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown. The lackluster performance has prompted some to question whether Harrison will have the immediate impact many had anticipated.
While Harrison has the potential to have a successful rookie season, his struggles in Week 1 have raised concerns. It appears he may require a longer adjustment period to the NFL than initially expected.
