Mumbai, India – Anil Mehta, father of Bollywood actress Malaika Arora, passed away on September 11, 2024, after falling from the 6th floor of his residence. While initial reports suggested suicide, a source close to the family has clarified that it was an accident, as Mr. Mehta had no known health issues.
A post-mortem conducted on September 11 revealed that the cause of death was “multiple injuries” sustained from the fall.
Mr. Mehta’s last rites were performed on September 12 at a crematorium in Santacruz, with family members and close friends present to offer their condolences. Among those who attended the funeral were Malaika’s brother-in-law Arjun Kapoor, ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, and his wife Sshura Khan.

Reports suggest that Mr. Mehta had called his daughters, Malaika and Amrita, the day before his death, telling them he was “sick and tired.”
