Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who was placed on injured reserve with a PCL sprain, could be sidelined for longer than the initial four-game estimate.
Head coach Sean McVay hinted at a potential extended absence, suggesting the injury’s nature could impact his return timeframe. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer further elaborated, stating the Rams plan to take a cautious approach with Nacua’s recovery.
“They’re going to take their time in bringing him back,” Breer said. “The good news for the Rams is they feel great about where they’re at at the position… I think that they want to be careful… as much as he wants to play.”
This cautious approach is likely due to Nacua’s aggressive playing style, which puts him at a higher risk of re-injury. Despite his absence, the Rams are confident in their receiving corps’ depth, showcasing their capabilities against a strong Detroit Lions defense. Cooper Kupp led the team with 14 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown, while Tyler Johnson added 79 yards on five receptions.
The team’s Week 6 bye could provide a perfect window for Nacua’s potential return in Week 7. While a longer absence would be a setback, the Rams are optimistic that their wide receiver depth can manage the workload until Nacua’s full recovery.
