Thu Sep 12 01:00:21 UTC 2024: ## Lawson Convenience Store Brings Restaurant-Quality Karashi Soba to Kyoto

**Kyoto, Japan** – Known for its traditional sweets and high-end restaurants, Kyoto has added a new culinary experience to its repertoire: restaurant-quality karashi soba from Lawson convenience stores.

Lawson, in collaboration with popular Kyoto Chinese restaurant Homairo, has launched a version of their signature karashi soba, a spicy noodle dish with mustard, sauce, and various toppings.

SoraNews24 reporter K. Masami, a fan of karashi soba, was pleasantly surprised by the convenience store offering. While she acknowledged that restaurant-made karashi soba remains superior, Lawson’s version closely replicates the taste and texture, including the distinctive spiciness.

The Lawson karashi soba features ingredients like lettuce, shrimp, wood ear mushrooms, and steamed chicken, much like Homairo’s. While the portion size is slightly smaller than the restaurant’s offering, the lower price point compensates for the difference.

Despite the convenience store format, the dish maintains a strong resemblance to Homairo’s karashi soba, satisfying even the discerning palate.

The limited-edition Lawson karashi soba is currently available only in the Kinki region of Japan, including Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hyogo, Wakayama, and Shiga. If you’re in the area, be sure to try it for yourself and compare it to the original at Homairo.
