Nashville, TN – Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi was hailed a hero on Wednesday after helping to talk a woman off the ledge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville on Tuesday night. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released a video of the incident showing Bon Jovi and his team on the bridge, where they were reportedly shooting a music video, when they noticed the woman in distress.
The video shows the woman precariously perched on the ledge overlooking the Cumberland River. Bon Jovi and his team approached her, calmly speaking with her and encouraging her to come back to safety. After about a minute, Bon Jovi, with the assistance of another woman, helped the woman back onto the bridge. Bon Jovi then embraced her in a hug before leaving the bridge with her.
“A shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge [on] Tuesday night,” the Metro Nashville Police Department wrote on social media. “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
Police Chief John Drake praised Bon Jovi’s actions, stating, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
