Nashville, TN – Rock icon Jon Bon Jovi was praised by local police this week for his quick thinking and compassion in helping a woman in distress on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, was captured on video and shared by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
The video shows the woman precariously perched on the ledge of the bridge, overlooking the Cumberland River. While Bon Jovi’s team was setting up for a music video shoot, the singer noticed the woman’s distress and approached her, talking to her and reassuringly waving at her. After a brief conversation, Bon Jovi and another woman helped guide the woman safely back onto the bridge. Bon Jovi then comforted the woman with a hug before leaving the bridge with her.
“A shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge [on] Tuesday night,” the police department wrote on social media. “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
Chief John Drake of the Metro Nashville Police Department commended Bon Jovi’s actions, stating, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
This heartwarming incident highlights the power of compassion and the willingness of everyday heroes, even rock stars, to step up and make a difference. The police department urged anyone experiencing a mental health crisis to reach out for help.
