Wed Sep 11 22:58:00 UTC 2024: ## Israel Offers Safe Passage to Hamas Chief in Exchange for Hostages

**Gaza City, October 26, 2023** – In a shocking move, Israel has offered to guarantee the safety of Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader and mastermind behind the October 7th attack on Israel, in exchange for the release of the remaining Israeli hostages held in Gaza. This offer was revealed by Gal Hirsch, Israel’s coordinator for hostages and the missing, who stated that the proposal was made earlier this week during tense cease-fire negotiations with Hamas.

“I’m ready to provide safe passage to Sinwar, his family, whoever wants to join him,” Hirsch told Bloomberg. “We want the hostages back. We want demilitarization, de-radicalization of course – a new system that will manage Gaza.”

The offer comes after similar statements from Hirsch over the weekend, where he referred to Sinwar as “the new Hitler.”

Hamas has yet to respond publicly to the offer. However, the terror group’s negotiation team met with Egyptian and Qatari mediators on Wednesday. Hamas has previously stated its opposition to accepting any new conditions during the cease-fire talks, referencing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on maintaining control of the Philadelphi Route.

While seemingly contradictory, Hamas could be open to the new condition, which Sinwar himself reportedly pitched last month. According to sources, Sinwar suggested that a cease-fire could be achieved if Israel would guarantee his safe passage out of Gaza.

However, such a move would undermine Israel’s repeated promises to eliminate Sinwar, who was last seen fleeing Gaza’s tunnels with his family on October 10th.

The offer of safe passage for Sinwar has sparked debate and controversy, raising questions about the potential implications for future security in the region and the potential risks of empowering Hamas through such concessions.
