Valentina Shevchenko is hungry for revenge. The former UFC Flyweight champion will face off against current champion Alexa Grasso this Saturday, September 14th at UFC 306 in a highly anticipated trilogy bout. The two women have already met twice, with Grasso emerging victorious in their first fight at UFC 285 via a shocking submission in the fourth round. Their rematch, held just a year ago, ended in a controversial split draw, with Shevchenko believing she was robbed.
“I can’t say that the last two times were wrong,” Shevchenko said during UFC 306 media day. “Our second fight, everyone could see that I won, but they gave a draw.” Shevchenko is determined to prove she is still the best in the division and reclaim her title.
The fight is part of a massive event that will honor Mexican Independence Day during Riyadh Season. The main event features reigning Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley taking on Merab Dvalishvili.
