**DHAKA, INDIA** – Bangladesh’s rising star, pace bowler Shoriful Islam, will miss the upcoming two-test series in India due to a groin injury sustained during their recent tour of Pakistan. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the news on Thursday, revealing that Islam is still recovering from the injury and unable to participate.

The 23-year-old left-arm pacer was instrumental in Bangladesh’s historic test series win in Pakistan, claiming three wickets in the first test in Rawalpindi. However, he missed the second test due to the injury.

Bangladesh are riding high after their victory in Pakistan, their first-ever test series win against their Asian rivals. They will now face a formidable Indian team, currently topping the World Test Championship standings and second in the ICC’s official test rankings.

The first test in Chennai starts on September 19th, with the second test scheduled for Kanpur from September 27th.

Despite Islam’s absence, Bangladesh have named a 16-member squad for the tour, which includes uncapped wicketkeeper Jaker Ali Anik. Litton Das, who scored a match-winning century in the second test against Pakistan, is expected to retain the wicketkeeping gloves.

India will then host New Zealand for three tests before travelling to Australia for a five-test series.
