Thu Sep 12 17:16:00 UTC 2024: ## China and Zambia Partner to Strengthen Urological Care in Zambia

**LUSAKA, ZAMBIA -** China and Zambia have announced a new partnership focused on improving prostate health in Zambia. The agreement, signed on Thursday, establishes a cooperation mechanism between the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University in China and Zambia’s Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital.

This partnership will see China provide expertise and resources to help Zambia strengthen its urinary surgery capabilities. This includes the introduction of advanced minimally invasive techniques, short-term expert visits for clinical diagnosis, training programs for local health personnel, and the donation of medical equipment.

China has already taken steps to support Zambia’s urological development, including building a urological laparoscopy center and a minimally invasive center for prostate cancer. A team of medical experts is expected to arrive in Zambia this year to further support these efforts.

The Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Han Jing, emphasized that public health cooperation is a cornerstone of China-Africa relations, highlighting the importance of building a “China-Africa community of health for all.”

Zambia’s Ministry of Health has welcomed the partnership, noting that it will improve service delivery, strengthen local urinary surgery capabilities, and promote better diagnosis and treatment of prostate disorders. The Ministry expressed gratitude for China’s ongoing support to Zambia’s health sector, including the provision of equipment, medical supplies, and human resource training.

This partnership is part of a larger effort by China to strengthen healthcare cooperation with African countries. Over the next three years, China plans to establish a China-Africa hospital alliance, further enhance the pairing mechanism between Chinese and African hospitals, and continue to improve services and management within both countries’ medical institutions.
