**Haifa, Israel** – A nearly 3,500-year-old jar, accidentally shattered by a four-year-old boy at the Hecht Museum in Haifa, is back on display after a meticulous restoration process. The Bronze Age jar, dating back to between 2200 and 1500 BC, was a rare and valuable artifact that was not behind glass when the incident occurred.
According to the boy’s father, Alex Geller, his son’s curiosity led him to pull on the jar, causing it to fall and break into pieces. While the initial thought for Mr. Geller was concern for his son, the museum quickly acted to restore the jar.
Museum experts used 3D technology, high-resolution videos, and special glue to reassemble the artifact. While a few pieces were missing and hairline cracks remain, the jar’s impressive size remains intact. The museum has added a “Please don’t touch” sign to prevent a similar incident.
In a unique turn of events, the museum has invited the Geller family back for a special hands-on visit to demonstrate the restoration process. This event aims to turn the accident into a teachable moment about the importance of preserving ancient artifacts.
