Mumbai: Southern superstar Jr NTR, riding the wave of his global success with ‘RRR’, made a grand return to the silver screen with the launch of his new pan-India film, ‘Devara’. Joining him were co-stars Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, marking their Telugu cinema debuts.
The star-studded event witnessed the unveiling of the highly anticipated trailer, bringing together the lead cast, director Koratala Siva, and Karan Johar, whose Dharma Productions presents the film in the Hindi market.
Jr NTR, known as the ‘Man of Masses’, expressed his nervousness about ‘Devara’, his first solo outing in six years. “There is a lot of nervousness building up,” he said, “but I am very happy to launch ‘Devara’ in the city of Mumbai. The acceptance of the North after ‘RRR’ shocked us all.”
Saif Ali Khan, who praised the rising popularity of Southern films, admitted feeling like a newcomer on the set of ‘Devara’. “I remember my first shot speaking Telugu, I had a bit of sweat running down my back,” he shared. “I felt nervous in a very different way. Going down there was a totally different experience.”
Janhvi Kapoor, making her Telugu debut, expressed her excitement about the film, stating that it felt like a “homecoming” for her. “I want to do every single movie with Tarak sir,” she declared, praising Jr NTR’s talent and charisma.
Karan Johar, who lauded Janhvi’s performance, acknowledged the power of Jr NTR’s star power, recalling the actor’s support for ‘Brahmastra’. “Tarak’s support really impacted the box office of ‘Brahmastra’, even in the south,” he said.
Director Koratala Siva compared the chemistry between Janhvi and Jr NTR to the iconic duo of NTR and Sridevi. “It comes out as after NTR sir and Sridevi ma’am, it is now Jr NTR and Janhvi,” he noted.
The event concluded with Jr NTR confidently stating that the last 40 minutes of ‘Devara’ will “rock everyone.” The film is set to release on September 27th, and expectations are high for another blockbuster from the ‘Man of Masses’.
