Thu Sep 12 04:21:38 UTC 2024: ## Cavaliers Bring Back Tristan Thompson on Non-Guaranteed Deal
Cleveland Cavaliers have signed veteran center Tristan Thompson to a one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum, but the contract is not guaranteed, sources told Hoops Wire. This arrangement gives the Cavaliers roster flexibility until January 7th, after which point the deal will become guaranteed if Thompson is still on the roster.
This is the same structure used last season, with Thompson ultimately staying with the Cavs and playing through the playoffs. He will again provide his familiar energy, hustle, rebounding, and championship experience behind starter Jarrett Allen.
The Cavs are likely to add another big man or two before the season starts on October 23rd, but Thompson’s presence provides a reliable option at the backup center position. The 33-year-old Thompson, who appeared in 49 games last season, averaged 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 60.8% from the field.
