**Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated SEMICON India 2024 today, a three-day event showcasing India’s ambition to become a global semiconductor hub. The conference, themed “Shaping the Semiconductor Future,” brings together global leaders, companies, and experts from the industry to discuss India’s semiconductor strategy and policy.

Over 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers are participating in the event, with the top leadership of global semiconductor giants attending. The conference is being held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida from 11th to 13th September.

SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha lauded the event’s “unprecedented” scale and the presence of over 100 CEOs and CXOs representing the entire semiconductor supply chain. He expressed optimism about the industry’s commitment to becoming a trusted partner in India’s journey towards a semiconductor hub.

Dr Randhir Thakur, President and CEO of Tata Electronics, thanked Prime Minister Modi for his vision and the rapid pace of development in the sector. He highlighted the government’s swift approval of India’s first commercial fab in Dholera and the indigenous OSAT factory in Jagiroad, Assam. He also credited the Prime Minister’s global outreach for establishing key partnerships with ecosystem players.

Kurt Sievers, CEO of NXP Semiconductors, emphasized the importance of collaboration, ambition, and trust in the success of India’s semiconductor journey. He highlighted the transformative potential of the industry for India and its global impact.

Hidetoshi Shibata, CEO of Renesas, expressed the company’s commitment to India through the establishment of its assembly and test facilities in Gujarat and its expansion in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Noida.

Luc Van Den Hove, CEO of IMEC, congratulated Prime Minister Modi for his vision and leadership in fostering a conducive environment for semiconductor manufacturing in India. He highlighted the importance of long-term R&D investment and expressed IMEC’s readiness to partner with India in achieving its ambitious goals.

The event underscores India’s commitment to becoming a global leader in the semiconductor industry. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and trust, SEMICON India 2024 is a crucial step in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision for a “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
