**Abuja, Nigeria** – President Bola Tinubu’s government has been likened to a plane navigating turbulent weather, with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, praising Tinubu as a “veteran captain” who will safely guide Nigeria through its current challenges.

Akume made this analogy during a visit by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) management, who were briefing him on their upcoming inaugural Annual International Lecture scheduled for October 3rd. The lecture will focus on the theme “Insecurity in the Sahel (2008-2024): Dissecting Nigeria’s Challenges—Genesis, Impacts and Options”.

“Tinubu’s government is like a plane that takes off in turbulent weather,” Akume explained. “It’s not easy to control, but with a skilled pilot who knows where he’s going, he can land safely despite the challenges. That’s why President Tinubu is a veteran captain,” he added.

Akume also highlighted the crucial role of the media in disseminating information on government policies and programs. He lauded NAN’s upcoming lecture as a “wonderful initiative,” emphasizing its importance in addressing the complex security situation facing Nigeria.

NAN Managing Director, Malam Ali M. Ali, echoed the sentiment, stressing that the lecture was critical given the widespread insecurity not only in Nigeria but across the Sahel region. He explained that the lecture aims to stimulate public discourse on the challenges posed by terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity.
