Thu Sep 12 04:50:50 UTC 2024: ## Taylor Swift Honors 9/11 Victims in Emotional VMA Acceptance Speech

**New York City, September 12, 2024** – Taylor Swift took home the Best Collaboration award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards for her song “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. In a poignant moment, the singer dedicated her acceptance speech to the victims of the 2001 World Trade Center attacks, remarking, “Waking up this morning in New York on September 11, I have just been thinking about what happened 23 years ago – everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost. And that is the most important thing about today. And everything that happens tonight falls behind that.”

The VMAs, originally scheduled for September 10th, were moved to the 11th to avoid coinciding with the US presidential debate. MTV Network released a statement on the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, affirming their support for the 9/11 Day organization and Tuesday’s Children, which assist families affected by the attacks.

Swift also expressed gratitude to her collaborators on the “Fortnight” music video, showering praise on Post Malone, whom she called “the favorite person to collaborate with.” She described him as “ridiculously talented, versatile, and the most down-to-earth person,” adding, “It has taken me forever to get him to stop calling ma’am.”

This year’s VMAs saw Taylor Swift lead the nominations with 12 nods, followed closely by Post Malone with 11. Rapper Eminem received eight nominations, while Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, SZA, and Megan Thee Stallion each received seven.
