Wed Sep 11 09:39:39 UTC 2024: ## Migrants Attempt to Board School Buses in San Diego County, Sparking Security Concerns

**San Diego, California** – In a series of alarming incidents, migrants who entered the United States illegally attempted to board school buses in San Diego County, prompting heightened security measures and raising concerns among parents and officials.

On August 27, a school bus in the Jamul-Dulzura Union School District was forced to maneuver around migrants who attempted to stop it. The following day, nearly two dozen migrants attempted to board a bus carrying schoolchildren, leading to the driver’s intervention and the arrest of six individuals by Border Patrol.

One eight-year-old student described the encounter as “really scary,” noting the presence of numerous adults with backpacks trying to get on the bus.

In response, the school district has instructed bus drivers not to stop for migrants, opting to proceed to the next scheduled stop instead.

While the school district emphasizes that there was no intention to harm anyone or take over the bus, the incident has led to increased security measures, including additional patrols by San Diego Sheriff’s deputies along school bus routes.

The Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the community’s concerns and is working closely with the school district to provide reassurance to families.

The motive behind the migrants’ actions remains unclear. However, the Sheriff’s Office notes that volunteers and immigration advocacy groups often operate in the area, using vehicles that may resemble school buses.

The incident has drawn criticism from Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who accused the migrants of attempting to kidnap schoolchildren. The accusation, however, has not been corroborated by the Border Patrol or the Sheriff’s Office.

The school district, Border Patrol, California Highway Patrol, and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incidents.
