**Palm Ridge, Gauteng** – Pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng, his bodyguard and son will face charges of kidnapping, illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm and assault at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. The charges stem from an incident in August where Mboro was filmed storming a primary school brandishing a panga and forcefully removing two pupils believed to be his grandchildren.
Mboro’s lawyer, Advocate Phillip Dlamini, maintains his client did not carry a real firearm, claiming it was a replica. He also disputed the validity of the charges, arguing that the state’s evidence about the firearm and ammunition is misleading.
The case has taken a dramatic turn with the state requesting the recusal of Magistrate Katlego Mokoena, alleging bias. Magistrate Mokoena, however, criticized the state for not affording her the opportunity to engage with their application.
Mboro’s arrest last month after the school incident sparked widespread controversy. His supporters claim he was acting as a concerned father, while critics condemn his actions as violent and unlawful. This week’s court appearance is expected to shed further light on the case and potentially provide answers to the questions surrounding the incident.
