Mumbai, India – Anil Mehta, the father of Bollywood actress Malaika Arora, was found dead on Wednesday morning. A post-mortem conducted on Wednesday night revealed that Mehta’s death was caused by “multiple injuries.”

According to sources, Mehta, who had taken Voluntary Retirement from the Merchant Navy, was found dead on the balcony of his home. His ex-wife and Malaika’s mother, Joyce, told police that Mehta would routinely sit on the balcony to read newspapers each morning. She stated that the couple had been divorced but had recently begun living together again.

When Joyce couldn’t find Mehta on the balcony, she looked over the edge and saw his body below. The building watchman had already alerted emergency services.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Mehta’s death. While initial reports suggested suicide, the post-mortem findings raise questions about the nature of the injuries. Further investigation is underway.

Malaika Arora released a statement expressing her family’s grief and requesting privacy during this difficult time. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time.”

Anil Mehta’s last rites were held on Thursday, September 12th.
