Thu Sep 12 16:59:46 UTC 2024: ## Livingstone Eyes ODI Return Despite Exclusion From England Squad
**Melbourne, Australia** – Despite being left out of England’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against Australia, experienced all-rounder Liam Livingstone hasn’t given up on making a return to the 50-over format and potentially featuring in next year’s ICC Champions Trophy.
Livingstone has primarily been used as a finisher in the T20 World Cups, but his recent performance in the opening T20I against Australia showcased his versatility. He top-scored for England with 37 runs and also bowled a clinical spell, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs.
“I want to play as much cricket for England as I possibly can,” said Livingstone, who has been hampered by injuries in recent years. “I’ve had a difficult couple of years. My body has probably let me down a little bit, and maybe I haven’t been up to scratch physically.”
He added that he is keen to prove himself in the T20I format, which could potentially earn him a spot back in the ODI team. “I feel like I’ve shown over the last couple of weeks…that the longer I get to bat in games, the more of a chance I have to affect games,” he stated.
Despite his disappointment at not being selected for the ODIs, Livingstone remains positive and focused on his performances. “There’s plenty of cricket to be played around the world, and if I’m not involved in the ODI stuff, then there’s plenty more opportunities,” he said.
Livingstone’s strong performances and determination to succeed could give him a fighting chance for a return to England’s ODI set-up, but it remains to be seen whether he can convince the selectors to give him another shot.
