**LONDON** – Over 200 people gathered outside the Foreign Office on Tuesday evening in a demonstration against the UK government’s decision to suspend 30 arms export licenses to Israel. The rally, organized by the Stop the Hate group and the 7/10 Human Chain project, saw protesters waving Israeli, British, and pre-revolutionary Iranian flags, chanting “shame!” and booing mentions of Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
Speakers at the event, which was held under a heavy downpour, expressed strong opposition to the arms embargo, arguing that it weakens Israel’s position against Hamas and other extremist groups. Rabbi Joseph Dweck, senior rabbi of the S&P movement, stated that “What is at stake here is not just the survival of Israel. This is about everything that we hold dear and cherish in the West.”
Vladimir Bermant, founder of the Military Experts Panel, who recently returned from a visit to Israel, described the Israeli Defense Force’s (IDF) rules of engagement as “best in class” after witnessing the “challenging operating environment” in Gaza firsthand.
Several speakers, including investigative researcher David Collier and writers Jonathan Sacerdoti and Nicole Lampert, condemned the government’s decision as politically motivated and urged for its immediate reversal. British-Iranian dissident Lily Moo also addressed the crowd, calling for the proscription of the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guard Corps.
The protest concluded with a strong call for the government to reconsider its stance on arms exports to Israel. Organizers emphasized the importance of supporting Israel in its struggle against extremism and maintaining a strong Western alliance.
