**Athens, Greece -** Greece’s Labor and Social Security Minister Niki Kerameus announced on Wednesday the extension of the Digital Labor Card for the tourism and catering sectors. The measure, aimed at protecting employee rights, requires employers to accurately record the actual hours worked by employees, ensuring they are paid accordingly.
The pilot phase of the Digital Labor Card began on September 11th, initially applying to hotels, accommodation facilities, camp sites, catering facilities, cafes, and restaurants. Minister Kerameus emphasized that a sufficient period will be allocated to allow for the measure’s successful implementation, address any potential issues, and allow businesses and employees to adapt to the new system.
“The objective is to ensure that employees are paid for the time they work,” explained Minister Kerameus. “This measure aims to protect the rights of all employees, regardless of their workplace.”
