**Kandla, Gujarat:** Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) announced plans to develop a new multi-purpose berth at Kandla Port in Gujarat. The Berth No 13, located at Deendayal Port, will be operational by FY27 and handle a variety of cargo, including containers.
“Berth No 13 will diversify our presence at Deendayal Port,” said Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO of APSEZ. “We will now handle multipurpose clean cargo at the port, in addition to dry bulk cargo that we already handle.”
The 300-meter long berth offers a capacity of 5.7 MMT (million metric tonnes) annually. It is expected to further strengthen Adani Ports’ position on the western coast, providing enhanced services to customers in Gujarat and North India.
To manage operations at the new berth, Adani Ports has established a wholly-owned subsidiary, DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal Ltd (DPACCCTL). The company secured a 30-year concession for the development, operation, and maintenance of the berth through a DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer) model.
This latest development follows Adani Ports’ recent acquisition of an 80% stake in global offshore support vessel operator Astro Offshore for $185 million. The acquisition, which is expected to be value-accretive from the first year, strengthens Adani Ports’ global marine portfolio and adds new Tier-1 customers.
With this expansion, Adani Ports continues to reinforce its position as the largest port developer and operator in India, managing a total of 15 ports and terminals strategically located on both the east and west coasts.
