Wed Sep 11 17:16:17 UTC 2024: ## Engineer Rashid Released on Interim Bail, Vows to Fight Modi’s ‘Naya Kashmir’ Narrative
**Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir:** Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, who was recently granted interim bail in an alleged terror funding case, has vowed to continue his fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Naya Kashmir” narrative.
Speaking to the media after being released from Tihar Jail today, Rashid said that his victory in the Lok Sabha elections was a “referendum against Modi’s policies, particularly the abrogation of Article 370.” He claimed that the people of Kashmir had rejected the BJP’s vision for the region and that he would continue to challenge it.
Rashid also refuted allegations from former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah that he was a “proxy” of the BJP. He stated that he had been a victim of BJP’s policies and would never support them.
He accused Omar Abdullah of “running away” to London while he was imprisoned for five and a half years. “He is fighting for his father’s chair while I am fighting for the people,” Rashid said, adding that the people of Kashmir had shown their disapproval of both him and Mehbooba Mufti by rejecting them in the 2019 elections.
He further criticized Omar Abdullah’s shifting stance on Rashid’s candidacy, saying, “When I filed nomination papers, he said he wished he knew earlier so he wouldn’t have contested. When I won, he claimed it was a victory for extremism. Now he calls me a BJP agent. Which of his words are true?”
Rashid asserted that his fight was against the BJP and its policies, and he would continue to oppose them. He appealed to the people, “I have come to unite you, not divide you. I am ready to make sacrifices.”
