**Nottingham, September 10, 2024:** Two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, were arrested in Nottingham city centre on Tuesday morning following a string of incidents involving robbery, vandalism, and assault.
The incident began at around 12:25 am with reports of damage to the door of a restaurant on Burton Street. This was followed by reports of a second restaurant, located in Trinity Square, having its glass door smashed.
A third report then alerted police to an assault on Milton Street, where a delivery driver was allegedly robbed. The driver, who refused to hand over his bicycle, was hit in the head and body, and reportedly subjected to racial abuse by one of the attackers. Although not seriously injured, the driver was left shaken.
Responding officers detained two teenage girls at the scene. Both were arrested on suspicion of robbery, criminal damage, threatening behaviour, and assault on an emergency worker.
During the processing of the suspects, one officer reported being spat at.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould of Nottinghamshire Police condemned the incident, stating, “We won’t tolerate this sort of behaviour on our streets.” She praised the officers for their swift response and arrests, emphasizing the impact on the victims, particularly the delivery driver who was targeted while trying to earn a living.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are encouraging anyone with information or footage to come forward.
