**ESTES PARK, CO** – A suspected felon, involved in a felony burglary case in Grand County, remains at large after leading law enforcement on a dangerous high-speed chase through Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday. The pursuit, which ended in a crash injuring three people, temporarily closed sections of the park.
The suspect, described as a bald, white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 165 pounds, was last seen fleeing on foot towards homes in the Estes Park area after his vehicle collided with another car near the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. The suspect, reportedly wearing only blue jeans, appeared to have sustained a head injury during the crash.
The chase began after park officials attempted to apprehend the suspect, who had sped through the Grand Lake entrance on the west side of the park. Despite attempts to slow the vehicle using strip sticks and roadblocks, the suspect continued at high speed, ultimately causing a collision that left three people with injuries, one of whom is in critical condition.
Law enforcement officials called off the pursuit due to the suspect’s reckless driving and high speed.
The incident prompted temporary closures of the park from U.S. Highway 36/Spur 66 to the Beaver Meadows Entrance. Residents in the Estes Park area were instructed to shelter in place.
Rocky Mountain National Park Law Enforcement Rangers were assisted by the Estes Park Police Department and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. The park has since reopened.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact local authorities immediately.
