**Ibadan, Oyo State** – The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has commended the Oyo State Police Command for its efforts in improving security within the state. Receiving a courtesy visit from the State Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi, on Tuesday, the monarch acknowledged the significant progress made since the CP’s arrival.
However, Oba Olakulehin, speaking through the Asipa Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, expressed the need for increased security measures within the palace itself. He requested more security personnel to ensure the safety of the palace and its surroundings.
“I appreciate the Commissioner of Police and his team for this courtesy visit,” said the Olubadan, “and I pray for them for more blessings and success in their career. I request for the fortification of security of life and property within the Palace, Ibadan, and Oyo State in general because, in order to enhance meaningful development, peace and tranquillity are necessary.”
The monarch also emphasized Ibadan’s historical significance as the “home of many firsts” and the political nucleus of the defunct Western Region. He expressed confidence that the city will continue to play a leading role in setting the pace for the country.
Commissioner Sonubi, in his address, thanked the Olubadan and the Olubadan-in-Council for receiving him. He emphasized the visit’s purpose as seeking the Olubadan’s blessings and expressing gratitude for the support received from the Olubadan, Olubadan-in-council, Mogajis, Baales, and the entire residents of Oyo State in the command’s efforts to maintain peace and combat crime.
He assured the Olubadan of adequate security provision for the palace and its surroundings. The CP also highlighted the coincidental timing of his promotion and the Olubadan’s coronation as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Following the meeting, the CP and his team inspected the facilities within the recently commissioned palace. The visit was attended by prominent members of the Olubadan-in-Council, including the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole-Foko, and the Asipa Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi.
