Ocean Beach is buzzing with the aroma of freshly roasted coffee as Coffee Cycle, a beloved mobile coffee business, opens its second storefront. Founder Chris O’Brien, a veteran of the coffee industry, has brought his unique tricycle-powered coffee cart concept to a permanent location, offering a range of specialty beverages and locally-sourced treats.
The new Voltaire Street space houses a five-kilo roaster where O’Brien will roast beans for Coffee Cycle’s diverse menu, featuring single-origin drip coffee, flash-chilled iced coffee, and innovative creations like lavender lattes and honey freddos. The cafe also boasts a backyard patio, perfect for relaxing and enjoying events like coffee education classes and meet-and-greets with coffee farmers.
Adding to the excitement, the Ocean Beach location marks the return of coffee industry legend Chuck Patton, founder of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. Patton has joined forces with Coffee Cycle, setting up a separate roasting operation within the space for his new venture, Chuck’s Roast. Focusing on online sales of rare and small-lot coffees, Chuck’s Roast will also offer on-site tastings. Patton is also actively consulting for coffee farms and developing classes for aspiring coffee business owners.
