Despite a long period of estrangement, Carey spent her mother’s final week with her, as reported by TMZ. In her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” Carey detailed a complex relationship with her mother and sister, alleging that Alison had abused her during childhood. Alison subsequently filed a lawsuit against Carey in 2021, claiming emotional distress caused by the allegations in the book. The status of that suit remains unclear.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Carey shared a rehearsal video with the message, “Back at work… It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much and I can’t wait to see my fans in China & Brazil. Love you!”
