Chatfield High School junior setter Harper Goldsmith is making waves on the volleyball court, leading her team to a No. 3 state ranking in Class 2A. Goldsmith’s stellar performance earned her the Three Rivers Conference Offensive Player of the Week award.

Goldsmith’s ability to spread the offense and create new opportunities has been key to Chatfield’s success. In a 3-0 victory over conference rival Fillmore Central, Goldsmith recorded 26 assists, a perfect 20-for-21 serving performance, and six aces. She continued her dominance at the Apple Valley Invitational, racking up 82 assists (9.1 per set) and serving at 90% with 10 aces.

“We’ve been working with Harper on spreading our offense and (last) week she’s made some very good decisions,” said Chatfield head coach Kristi Rindels. “She’s giving us looks we haven’t had before and she does it so easily.”

While Goldsmith shone offensively, Fillmore Central’s Kyla Hellickson earned the Three Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week award. Hellickson was a defensive force, recording a 95% serve receive percentage against Chatfield and 58 digs (6.44 per set) at the Apple Valley Invitational.

“Kyla is doing a great job leading our team on and off the court,” said Falcons head coach Travis Malley. “Her work ethic and her wanting to compete at the highest level every game is awesome.”

Both Goldsmith and Hellickson’s strong performances highlight the impressive talent in the Three Rivers Conference and demonstrate the competitive spirit of these young athletes.
