Tue Sep 10 18:57:00 UTC 2024: ## Fallon Greenwave Falls to Damonte Ranch Mustangs in Close Contest

**RENO, NV** – The Fallon Greenwave football team suffered a 31-14 loss to the Damonte Ranch Mustangs on Friday night, despite a strong first half performance.

Fallon, playing against a 5A school on the road, jumped out to an early lead, scoring on their opening drive. Quarterback Matthew Bird’s 76-yard drive culminated in a touchdown run by Carson Melendy, giving Fallon a 7-0 lead with 9:42 remaining in the first quarter.

The Greenwave maintained their momentum, taking a 14-3 lead into halftime thanks to a 86-yard touchdown pass from Bird to Wyatt Peek.

However, Damonte Ranch, led by quarterback Kanon Boggs, dominated the second half. The Mustangs scored on their first drive of the third quarter, and then capitalized on a pair of Fallon penalties to take a 17-14 lead late in the third.

Damonte Ranch’s Kobe Craig proved to be a key factor, scoring twice in the final quarter to secure the victory.

Despite the loss, Fallon’s offense showed promise, particularly in the first half. Bird’s performance and Melendy’s touchdown run highlight a bright spot for the Greenwave.

Fallon will look to bounce back as they travel to South Tahoe this Friday to resume their 3A crossover schedule.
