Mon Sep 09 15:13:05 UTC 2024: ## Google Revamps Account Switcher UI on Android, Bringing it Closer to Web Version

**[City, State] -** Google is rolling out a redesigned account switcher UI for Android, moving away from the traditional pop-up menu and adopting a full-page design reminiscent of the web version. This change was first hinted at in August, when code strings within several apps suggested Google was working on this new interface.

The revamped account switcher, currently active in Gmail version 2024.09.01.670000360.Release, offers a cleaner and more intuitive experience. Instead of a pop-up, users now see a full page with their primary account, connected accounts, and buttons for adding accounts or managing accounts on the device.

While the new design provides a more streamlined look, users will have to rely on the close button or back gesture to exit the account switcher, unlike the previous pop-up where tapping outside closed it. However, the swipe up/down functionality for switching between accounts remains unchanged.

This redesigned account switcher is expected to be rolled out to other Google apps soon, but an exact timeline is not yet available.
