Tue Sep 10 17:37:38 UTC 2024: ## Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb Reveals He Wouldn’t Have Played Without a Contract
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb revealed on Tuesday’s episode of the Up and Adams podcast that he would have sat out the team’s Week 1 win against the Cleveland Browns if he hadn’t signed his contract extension. Lamb, who inked a four-year, $136 million deal in late August after a lengthy negotiation and training camp holdout, addressed the situation during the podcast, drawing comparisons to Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who played in Week 1 despite not having a new contract.
“No, I wouldn’t have played,” Lamb stated when asked by host Kay Adams if he would have participated in the season opener without a deal. He then acknowledged the different situations he and Chase face, saying, “I don’t necessarily say we have the same position. We play the same position but (we’re not) in the same position.”
Despite their similar situations, Lamb praised Chase’s decision, stating, “I feel like he’s playing it right. He’s doing it right, and all it’s going to take is one big game from him to show his worth.” He also expressed confidence in Chase’s performance going forward, saying, “Once we get acclimated and bodies start getting back in the grind of things and playing football again, I have no doubt that he’s gonna have a great year this year.”
While all three receivers – Lamb, Chase, and San Francisco’s Brandon Aiyuk – played in Week 1, their performances were underwhelming. All three receivers failed to find the endzone despite their teams scoring a combined 75 points. While this could be attributed to their lack of training camp time due to their contract negotiations, Lamb and Chase have both expressed confidence in their abilities to perform well going forward.
