Following a court ruling that awarded sole ownership of the Batushka name to founding member Krzysztof “Derph” Drabikowski, Bartłomiej “Варфоломей” Krysiuk has announced his version of the band will continue under the new moniker “Patriarkh.”
In a statement released via Instagram, Krysiuk emphasized his desire to move forward and focus on the music, distancing himself from the ongoing legal disputes. He stated that the band will release new music, adopt a new visual identity, and deliver a new level of performance.
Krysiuk, who initially joined Batushka as the vocalist in 2015, had continued performing under the band’s name after the original split with Drabikowski in 2018. The legal battle ensued after Drabikowski sought to reclaim ownership of the name.
The final court decision concluded that Drabikowski was the sole owner of the Batushka trademark and its associated rights.
The transition to Patriarkh will occur gradually, with the last performance as Batushka scheduled for December 13th in Melbourne, Australia. The new name will officially come into effect with the release of new music following the new year.
Krysiuk has announced several tour dates for the band’s new chapter as Patriarkh, including appearances in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Despite the legal hurdles, it seems Krysiuk is determined to carry on the band’s legacy under a new name, promising a new era of music for dedicated fans.
