Sat Sep 07 23:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Kenmore West Escapes Williamsville East in Thriller, Brannon’s Heroics Secure 20-15 Victory

**Kenmore West, NY -** The Kenmore West Blue Devils emerged victorious in a nail-biting contest against the Williamsville East Flames on Saturday, securing a 20-15 win thanks to a last-minute touchdown by running back Harlem Brannon.

The game was a tense affair, with both teams trading blows throughout. With the score tied at 14-14 and time running out, Williamsville East appeared poised for victory. However, a crucial interception by Kenmore West’s Nahsir Tillmon with just seconds remaining sealed the Flames’ fate.

Brannon proved to be the difference-maker for the Blue Devils. Despite several miscues, including fumbles and interceptions by their quarterback, Kenmore West rallied behind their star player. Brannon rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown, including the game-winning score with 33.3 seconds left on the clock.

“We came together as a team,” said Brannon, reflecting on the victory. “I feel good coming through for the team.”

Coach John Haynes praised his players’ resilience, highlighting the importance of their never-give-up attitude instilled by Mike Masters, the director of cross-training athletics.

“I’m happy we got out of there with a win,” said Haynes. “We need to do a better job of executing. We put the ball on the ground three times and put the ball in their hands twice in the air. You can’t have that and win football games.”

Looking ahead, the Blue Devils face a formidable opponent next week: the reigning Section VI Class A champion, Clarence Red Devils. Clarence, who lost their opening game against Monroe, are on an 11-game winning streak against local competition.

“Clarence is a really good team,” said Deontay Rodgers, who had a 53-yard interception return for a touchdown earlier in the game. “We really have to lock in because they have a really good QB in Bryce Tubin. We have to step up.”

The Blue Devils will need to clean up their execution and play with the same determination they displayed against Williamsville East to stand a chance against Clarence. The game promises to be a tough test, but the Blue Devils will be looking to carry their momentum from this dramatic victory into next week’s showdown.
