Sat Sep 07 11:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Google Meet Gets a Facelift on Android with Edge-to-Edge Video and Streamlined UI

Google Meet is rolling out a new user interface on Android, offering a more immersive video calling experience. The update, available now for all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts, features edge-to-edge video, eliminating margins and maximizing screen space. This change is particularly noticeable in one-on-one conversations and in landscape mode.

The new UI also boasts clearer indicators for meeting information, like the title, displayed in circular and pill-shaped containers at the top. Meeting controls are now conveniently grouped with the video on/off, microphone toggle, wave, overflow menu, and end button, mirroring the web UI design.

This update is part of Google’s larger plan to upgrade the personal video calling experience in Meet. Upcoming features include on-the-go mode, live captions, screen sharing, and more expressive tools, aiming to bring Meet closer to the advanced features offered in its link-based meeting counterpart.
