**Guwahati, Assam:** A massive online trading scam, estimated to be worth crores of rupees, has sent shockwaves through Assam. The alleged mastermind, Swapnil Das, has been arrested and is being investigated for defrauding thousands of people. Preliminary investigations suggest that Das may have siphoned off funds to bank accounts in Malaysia, Dubai, and the USA.

A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Das was apprehended from his opulent residence in Guwahati three days ago. His luxurious lifestyle included a garage full of high-end cars, which have been seized by the police. The accused was known for frequent vacations abroad, with his social media accounts showcasing photos from the Maldives, Dubai, and other international destinations.

The police have also discovered that Das operated a lavish office in the city for his online trading venture, rivaling the grandeur of any major corporate house. They believe he may have at least two bank accounts in Dubai, where the plundered funds were channeled. Additionally, a substantial amount of ₹79 lakh was found in his mother’s bank account.

The investigation revealed that Das was part of a larger network involved in the scam. Another key suspect, Bishal Fukon, was apprehended from Dibrugarh. In total, over 39 individuals have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the ₹2200 crore online trading scam.

The police have been granted a three-day extension to interrogate Das. His lavish lifestyle and the scope of the scam highlight the complex nature of the fraud and the widespread impact it has had on the victims.
