The conflict began when newcomer Stephen Williams accused long-serving resident Simon Fairlie of bullying and theft, leading to a court case. Fairlie was cleared of the charges but blamed new trustees for dismantling the community. Several members, including the head gardener and farm assistant, were evicted or sacked. Fairlie, along with some others, have relocated to create a new intentional community near Exeter. The trustees defended their actions, stating they were obligated to remove Fairlie’s privileges following an investigation.
