– A joint defense committee in Delhi approved the purchase of 240 new engines for Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets.
– The deal worth Rs. 26,000 crore will see the engines being produced in a facility in India with the help of a Russian company.
– The engines have a service life of 8 years and will strengthen India’s defense capability.
– Prime Minister Modi-led defense committee has approved the order for the engines.
