-The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of Dr Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, over the rape and murder of a junior doctor on campus.
-Ghosh is being probed by the CBI for the rape-murder case and corruption charges.
-The IMA cited lack of empathy and sensitivity in handling the rape-murder case as reasons for the suspension.
-The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) also wrote to IMA, stating that Ghosh’s continued membership is detrimental to the association’s reputation.
-Ghosh was accused of trying to hush up the incident and has been questioned by the CBI, including undergoing a polygraph test.
-The CBI is also probing him for corruption at RG Kar Hospital.
