– Dr Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has been suspended from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) membership amid a CBI probe into the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at the Kolkata-based institute.
– Dr Ghosh is also the vice president of the IMA’s Kolkata branch.
– The decision to suspend Dr Ghosh’s membership was taken by the IMA’s disciplinary committee.
– The committee took into consideration the rape and murder case of the postgraduate resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and subsequent developments in the case.
