– A plea challenging the directive was filed by an NGO and Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra also moved the Supreme Court against it
– Governments in Ujjain and other cities also issued similar directives for shop owners to display their names and mobile numbers
– Violators of the directive will face penalties, with fines of ₹2,000 for first offence and ₹5,000 for subsequent violations
– The matter is set for hearing on July 26 in the Supreme Court.
