Iran has condemned Israel’s retaliatory strike on the Houthi-controlled port of Hodeida in Yemen. The attack killed six people and wounded dozens. The Houthis have threatened a “huge” retaliation against Israel. Tensions in the region have increased since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October. Israel has vowed to eradicate Hamas after they killed 1,200 people and captured hostages. The death toll in Israel’s offensive against Palestinians is disputed, with Hamas reporting 39,000 deaths and Israel reporting 30,000 deaths. Iran supports Houthi rebels, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza, who are part of an “axis of resistance” against Israel and its allies. Iran insists these groups are independent in their decision-making.
